Prior to establishment as a city, Plano covered a region of the Blackland Praire which covered the horizon with wild flora and fauna in its time. It was during the 1840s that the first settlers arrived at Plano to take advantage of land grants. While Plano remained a small rural farming community in earlier times, it later made the transition to a modern urban centre with agrarian industries, cattle farms and ranches. Houston and Texas Central Railway linked this city to key towns and cities in the US as well as fresh markets.
By the 1870s, population numbered close to 500 while growth gradually expanded as time elapsed. By the 1880s, buildings and businesses flourished in this Texan city The first settlers may have come to this area 150 years back, but what is more important is that the city grew and flourished as a rapid urban center on account of the companies and firms that set up shop here.
